1. What goals are you working on now?

I’m currently training for life! And also the Equinox half marathon. My current goal is to run a sub 2 hour half marathon. I’ve gotten close in previous years, and I’m pretty sure I’ll get there on September 16th.

2. What challenges do you face in your fitness routine? How do you overcome those challenges?

Honestly, the biggest challenge for me is the mental “game” of it all. I haven’t always loved this body of mine and I used to put a lot of pressure on myself to do things perfectly, see results quickly and look a certain way. But in reality, everything we do, every decision we make in life is motivated by something. The hardest part is nailing down what that something really is. Ultimately, I think it’s important to focus on your “why”. Exercise isn’t about comparing yourself to others, looking a certain way or being better than the competition; it’s about being the best version of yourself and doing something to thank your mind and body, maybe kicking some ass along the way. Working out with the Persistent Hunters fam has helped me get out of my own way and to remind myself how fortunate I am to have the physical capabilities to exercise and that I am grateful to my body for serving me well and the amazing things it can do.

3. Please share a recent success or milestone (fitness/health or otherwise)?

Reached triple digits on back squats!

4. What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?
That’s a tough one! I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. I am a vegetarian and occasionally an opportunistic carnivore, so I would have to say my favorite guilty pleasure is my mother’s chicken enchiladas. Cheesy, gooey, spicy; feels like home.
